Customer Privacy Policy Notice
Johnson Rice & Company L.L.C. has a policy of protecting the confidentiality and security of information we collect about our clients. We do not share nonpublic personal information about you to third parties unless those parties are providing services or support to us and have agreed to keep your nonpublic personal information confidential. Examples of these parties include the company we use for cleaning purposes or the companies we use to perform our internal auditing. Our privacy policy applies to former and current customers.
Why and how we collect personal information
We collect personal information about you so that we may provide you with our services, such as evaluating your financial needs, processing your requests and transactions, maintaining your accounts with us and informing you about products and services that may be of interest to you. The personal information we collect about you includes:
- Information you provide to us on applications and other forms (such as your name, address, social security number, occupation, assets and income);
- Information about your transactions with us and others, and/or
- Information we receive from consumer reporting agencies (such as your credit history and creditworthiness) and other entities not affiliated with us.
How we protect personal information
We limit access to your personal information to our employees and registered representatives who need to know in order to conduct our business, service your account, and help you accomplish your financial objectives. Our employees and registered representatives acting on our behalf are required to maintain and protect the confidentiality of your personal information and must follow established procedures to do so. To comply with applicable laws and regulations, we maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your personal information. Employees who violate our privacy policy will be subject to discipline. We do not sell customer personal information to anyone.
Disclosure of information
We do not have affiliated companies (other companies that we control or that control us or are under common control with us) with whom we share customer personal information. We may share the personal information described above when we believe necessary for business purposes or where required by law. For example, information may be disclosed for audit or research with the following unaffiliated companies:
- Financial service institutions (such as mutual fund companies, securities brokers and banks) with whom we have joint marketing agreements (such as agreements to market financial services or products that we jointly offer, endorse or sponsor) or
- Companies under contract to perform services for us or on our behalf (such as companies providing data processing, computer software maintenance and development, transaction processing, marketing services and credit review and reporting).
We will share your personal information with these companies only when they agree to uphold and maintain our privacy standards when handling a customer's personal information.
Also, we may disclose personal information to other companies and regulatory authorities as permitted by applicable law. For example, we may disclose personal information to cooperate with regulatory authorities and law enforcement agencies or for credit reporting and verification purposes. Except as described in this notice, we will not use your personal information for any other purpose unless we describe how the information will be used at the time you disclose it to us or we obtain your permission to do so.
Opting-Out procedures
You may exercise your right to opt out of the sharing of non-public personal information with non-affiliated third parties. Your opt-out elections will remain in effect until you revoke them in writing.
Accessing and revising your personal information
We endeavor to keep our customer files complete and accurate. We will give you reasonable access to the information we have about you, with the exception of information that we collect in connection with any claim or legal processing. Most of the information we have about you is contained in account statements that you receive from us or our clearing broker and applications that you submit to obtain our products and services. We encourage you to review this information and notify us if you believe any information should be corrected or updated.
